A Basic and Interactive Review of the Brain

Just recently, a group who creates online college courses asked me to review the interactive brain information below. This would not be adequate for a nursing or medicine major, but could be a basic review for non-medical majors. It does not discuss the outline of the ventricles and the circulatory system of cerebrospinal fluid, and it does not discuss the neuro-endocrine system, or the coverings of the brain..  It does provide a basic survey of basic brain functions in a very simple way.

It makes it look pretty simple. Too bad that nobody really understands how it works, how it can reason, anticipate, retain info and predict future events. What other animal can do these things?

Yes, in many ways it is an oversimplification. However, it has value for those who wish to establish some basics to add upon later. Yes, even research neurologists have theories as to its workings, and those workings are not really understood. We also are scratching the surface when it comes to how serotonin, dopamine, and other natural brain chemicals work, and what happens when they become disordered.
Human beings are interesting creatures, however I suspect that dogs, cats, chickens, and horses are capable of a great deal more intellectually than is presently realized. They just lack the ability to demonstrate these for us. Thanks for posting.

I really enjoyed the layout of this explanation. I do know my chickens have an intellectual ability. I think sometimes animals do demonstrate their abilities, but we don't know how to listen.

Yes, I was surprized that the few chickens the kids hand raised who grew up to be pets we so bright. It made me feel badly about eating chicken !
